Group football breaks

Group football breaks

Do you fancy a wonderful weekend watching football in Europe with likeminded fans? Then a Football Weekends group trip could be just the ticket for you!

Nickes.Com supports the UK print magazine Football Weekends in organising memorable breaks on the continent. Since the first trip in 2019, to Germany, there are now up to four group trips organised each year.

So what’s a trip like? It's a relaxed weekend, with the chance to watch football, and explore a new destination in the company of fellow football supporters. Our parties are a mix of solo travellers, friends and couples of all ages so everyone's welcome.

Football Weekends itinerary

The trips are led by Football Weekends magazine editor Jim Stewart and they take in both well-known football hotspots as well as more far-flung destinations. They have included the likes of Milan and Munich, as well as Poland, Slovakia, Sweden and Belgium. Most trips are three or four nights, with the option to stay longer if you wish. While there is an itinerary, there is always free time left for you to explore on your own.

A typical trip includes the following:

- 3 or 4 night stay in a well-located 3* hotel
- Breakfast included
- Welcome meeting and fun quiz
- Three football matches
- Travel to games

There are also often options to take up sightseeing tours and join a traditional group meal – and for those who want more football, that’s offered too!

Football Weekends reviews

The group usually numbers between 25 and 35, and many travellers have enjoyed them so much they have returned for several more trips. The common language is English but all nationalities are very welcome to come along.

Here’s a few of the comments from a trip to Katowice in Poland:

‘Super trip, well organised, great company, good matches and a bit of sightseeing thrown in too - what's not to like?’ – Neil

If you love watching different levels of football in new and old grounds there are the trips for you’ – Rinaldo

‘This was my first trip with Jim, so I really didn’t know what to expect. It was a wonderful weekend, well organised from start to finish and I met some wonderful people’ - Damian

‘Well organised trip. Varying ages in the group with everyone extremely welcoming and friendly’ - Mark

‘It was my third Football Weekends trip and, as usual, it was extremely well organised with plenty of games from different levels to experience. There was enough free time to do a bit of your own thing and it was great to be in the company of a group of real football fans who enjoyed talking about the game over a couple of beers’ - Roger
