Fulham have had a mixed history, taking in all four divisions of the football league.
Back in the 1950s the club’s star was Johnny Haynes, who also went on to captain the England side – despite the fact Fulham were in the Second Division at the time! The listed Stevenage Road stand has been renamed in honour of the man widely considered to be the club’s finest player ever.
Fulham enjoyed a halcyon period in the 1970s when former England World Cup winning captain Bobby Moore swapped Upton Park for Craven Cottage and he was joined by none other than legends Rodney Marsh and George Best. During this decade Fulham reached their only FA Cup final, losing to West Ham.
Fulham enjoyed a long period in the Premier League in the early years of this Millennium and under the stewardship of Roy Hodgson they went on an epic run in the Europa League, making it all the way to the final.
Relegation eventually followed but Fulham are now back among the big boys and ready to host a clutch of London derbies in the 2018/19 season – always a great atmosphere.
